NDLR Information Sessions

Here is a list of a series of Information sessions that are aimed at new users of the NDLR who want to find out more about the project, get access to the teaching and learning repository and begin using the NDLR to download or upload resources for teaching and learning in their discipline.

Look out for notice of these sessions in your Institution or at any of the Community of Practice events or teaching and learning and e-learning related third party events.

'The SEACASE project - A Presentation of current Software Engineering Case Studies'

SECASE (Software Engineering Case Studies) is an exciting project funded by the European Union’s Leonardo da Vinci programme. It aims to improve the effectiveness of computer science and software development education at third level, by giving teaching staff access to up-to-date and business-relevant case study material provided by the software industry. This talk will discuss ITB’s case study, produced with Eirplay Games, based on the Monster Madness mobile phone game.

The 3RD Inter - Institutional Retention Colloquium
New Perspectives on Retention in Further and Higher Education

Keynote Speaker: Professor Mantz Yorke was, until August 2005, Professor of Higher
Education at Liverpool John Moores University, and is now Visiting Professor in the
Department of Educational Research, Lancaster University.

His early career was in teaching and teacher education, after which he turned to staff
development and educational research at Manchester Polytechnic. He then spent six years as
a senior manager at Liverpool Polytechnic followed by two years on secondment as Director
of Quality Enhancement at the Higher Education Quality Council. On returning to LJMU he
engaged in research and development focusing largely on the student experience. He has
presented and published on various aspects of higher education.

This colloquium will provide an opportunity for educators, academics, tutors,
administrators, managers and leaders in higher education to discuss the issue of student
retention from a number of different important perspectives. The inter-university
retention network will share its experiences and insights relating to retention issues and
an interactive workshop will gather participant perspectives in the first part of the
colloquium. The second phase will involve paper presentations from higher education
practitioners and experts across the sector.

Attendance is FREE but you must register.
